Welcome
About Cecil White
I started playing guitar around 4 years old and played mostly in church with my
dad until I was about 21 years old. When I was 12 I had my first guitar student and
he was my 6th grade teacher.
I played in various bands both Country and Rock, in 1968 the band I was in called
"Pedestrian Crossing" opened two nights in Amarillo for "Doby Gray".
From 1969 to 1979 I played with a band by the name of "Sound Express" which recorded
with Tex Rhodes.
From 1979 to 1984 I played with the "Armadillo Flats" which won the "Wrangler Star
Search" for Texas in 1982. We opened for Conway Twitty, Gary Stewart (3x's), Joe
Ely (6x's), Jerry Jeff Walker, The Mains Brothers and we Toured with Sylvia. Glen
D Hardin played piano on our record.
I have played with many talented and even sometimes famous people such as Larry
Mohan, Johnny Gimble, Riders In The Sky, Christy Lane, Raulna English and in the
Wrangler Star Search Show with TG Shepard, Acosta, Tammy Wynette, Jerry Reed, Mel
Tillis and Dennis Weaver.
From 1994 to 2003 I played various local Jamborees and met Jimmy Burson. We formed
"Texas in the Swing" which played Silver Dollar City in Branson Missouri and Western
Swing Festivals along with "The Texas Playboys", Curtis Potter, Johnny Bush, "The
River Road Boys", and others.
